December 12, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 31 Wyckoff Wanderings Register for preschool program The Wyckoff School District is accepting applications for the 2013-14 general education preschool program housed at Sicomac School. Three- and four-year-olds who reside in Wyckoff may attend. The integrated preschool program incorporates the education of special education children with general education preschoolers, and follows general education curriculum standards. In order to be eligible, a general education child must be three or four years old on or before Oct. 1, 2013. Students will be screened for admission into the program. Threeand four-year-olds generally attend from 8:40 to 11:30 a.m., and four- and five-year-olds attend from 12:30 to 3:20 p.m. The program is five half-days a week in accordance with the Wyckoff school calendar. Parents will be responsible for transportation. The annual tuition for the program is $3,400. A deposit of $500 is due by June 1, 2013 and the balance may either be paid in full no later than June 1, 2013, or may be paid in two installments of $1,450 plus a $25 processing fee. All students will be registered at the time of entry. Each parent or guardian is required to bring the child’s birth certificate, a copy of the child’s immunization record, and proof of residency. Applications may be obtained in the main offices at Coolidge, Lincoln, Sicomac, and Washington schools. An application form is also available at www.wyckoffps.org. Traveling teams seek players The Wyckoff Recreation and Parks Department is currently holding registration for its select traveling softball teams. All girls who will be nine through 14 as of Jan. 1, 2013 who wish to try out for one of the traveling teams must register at the recreation office between now and Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is open to Wyckoff residents only. The goal is to field teams at the U10, U12, and U14 levels. A copy of the registrant’s birth certificate is required when registering. Only those players who register during the above time period will be contacted regarding tryout dates. The summer travel softball program will begin practicing in late April/early May and will play games from mid-June through July. The workshop will begin with a menorah lighting ceremony and will feature Chanukah songs from the American Jewish repertory including Tom Lehrer, Peter Yarrow, Woody Guthrie, Adam Sandler, and Debbie Friedman. Participants are invited to bring their own musical instruments and voices and join in singing the songs of the many artists who made the American folk scene so great. The Community Blood Services bloodmobile will be in the Commons parking lot from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All potential donors will receive a glucose and cholesterol screening. Babysitting Night fundraiser set The high school youth group of the Wyckoff Reformed Church will host a Babysitting Night on Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the church located at 580 Wyckoff Avenue. Designed to give parents free time to shop or relax, the children who attend will have dinner and then have an opportunity to enjoy craft activities and entertainment. School hosts Coat Drive Grace Nursery School is sponsoring its Second Annual Coat Drive to benefit Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children. Gently-used coats, hats, and mittens of all sizes will be collected through Dec. 14 at the school located at 555 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff. Nursery school hosts Meet and Greet Grace Nursery School, 555 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff will host a Meet and Greet for the parents of prospective students on Tuesday, Dec. 11. The program will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The school offers programs for children age two-and-a-half to five. Members of the parents’ advisory board, class parents, teachers, and staff will be present to answer questions. Attendees may tour the school and classrooms and learn about the programs offered. Pet licenses available Wyckoff residents can obtain 2013 licenses for their dogs and cats at the municipal clerk’s office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Residents are reminded to bring proof of the pet’s rabies vaccination and alteration papers. The license fee is $11 for an altered pet and $14 for an unaltered pet. After Feb. 1, a late fee of $10 per animal will be charged in addition to the annual licensing fee. Replacement tags may be purchased throughout the licensing year for $5. The Annual Free Rabies Prevention Program will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the DPW Garage located at 475 West Main Street in Wyckoff.
