December 5, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 17 The Borough of Midland Park and Ferretti Carting Inc. have reached a mutual agreement terminating the recycling contract retroactive to Nov. 9. The Hackensack company had been handling the commingled, paper and cardboard collection since January under a one-year contract. Borough Clerk/Administrator Addie Hanna fired the company on Nov. 9 Recycling contract dispute resolved; new bids sought when the recyclables were still at the curb by 3 p.m. She said that was only the last of many other similar instances, and that the borough had documented myriad complaints from residents about Ferretti’s lack of service. The borough’s contract with Ferretti specified that collections must be done between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The town’s DPW collected paper and cardboard on Nov. 10, and Sterling Carting, the town’s garbage contractor, was asked to pick up the recyclables as well as the solid waste until year’s end. Ferretti had contested the termination of the agreement, but Borough Attorney Robert Regan said in the end both parties agreed, with no terms specified on either side. In anticipation of the need for a new hauler, the borough has advertised for new bids for the recyclables for one, two, The Midland Park United Methodist Church’s Annual Cookie Walk will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15.
