The large evergreen adjacent to town hall in Midland Park will again be lit for the holidays this year. Borough Clerk/Administrator Addie Hanna said that the installation of the lights was done this year by Bergen County Tree Service of Waldwick, the company that holds the contract for tree work in the borough. A smaller tree had been lit for the past couple of years because of the difficulty of handling the larger, ever growing fir.
Large fir to be lit this year at traditional ceremony
The traditional celebration is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Festivities will be held at borough hall, 280 Godwin Avenue, and will include a performance by the Highland School Band, snacks, hot drinks, holiday character guests, and a visit with Santa. The Midland Park Volunteer Fire Department will escort Santa to town, a holiday tradition enjoyed by residents of all ages.
The library parking lot will be reserved for senior citizens and handicapped parking. Additional parking will be available at borough hall, Highland Avenue, East Center Street, and the upper Highland/Godwin school parking lot. On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Midland Park Fire Department will host its Annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa. The event will be held at the firehouse on Witte Drive from 8 to 11 a.m.
