Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • December 5, 2012 Area A 29-year-old Midland Park man has been arrested on charges of aggravated sexual assault and burglary. The arrest of Franklin Ramon Reyes Ponce, which was announced last week by Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli, was the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit under the direction of Chief Steven Cucciniello and the Midland Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Marra. On Nov. 24, members of the Midland Park Police Department and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Reyes Ponce after learning that he had sexually assaulted an adult female acquaintance. According to the victim, Reyes Ponce entered her home in the early morning hours of Nov. 23 without permission and sexually assaulted the victim. The victim reported the sexual assault to the Midland Park Police Depart- Officials arrest local man for assault, burglary ment. Midland Park personnel then contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Reyes Ponce was charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault in the first degree and one count of burglary in the second degree. Judge Menelos Toskos, J.S.C. set bail at $250,000, with no 10 percent option and no contact with the victim. Reyes Ponce was subsequently remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail. Prosecutor Molinelli states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. An arraignment was scheduled for Nov. 30 at 4 p.m. On Nov. 26, as a result of investigating a solo motor vehicle accident where the vehicle struck a utility pole on Franklin Avenue near Circle Avenue, a 27-year-old Ringwood man was charged with possession of a hypodermic needle. He was further charged with reckless driving, failure to Franklin Lakes Police Department Report keep right, and driving without insurance. The driver had been transported and treated at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
