August 15, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 23 Park Windmill Memorial bench donations sought The committee working on the construction of the Midland Park Volunteer Fire Department’s new memorial complex adjacent to the firehouse on Witte Drive is looking to add three or four commemorative benches to the project and hopes that residents or organizations will step forth to contribute them. For a $1,000 donation the permanent bench will be placed at the site to provide for contemplative space for visitors. A commemorative plaque will be affixed to each bench. The memorial’s official dedication will take place in October. Anyone interested in contributing a bench in memory of a loved one may contact Chief Berninger at 201-445-5721 or email him at mpfd531@hotmail.com. The fire department has set up a separate non-profit fund to receive donations for the memorial complex project. Contributions may be made out to MPFD 911 Fund and mailed to 45 Witte Drive, Midland Park 07432. New fire captain appointed Jason Crean was recently named captain of the Midland Park Volunteer Fire Department. He succeeds Mark Berninger Jr., who resigned his leadership position to concentrate on his duties as a newly-appointed police officer in the borough. LAN hosts Blood Drive On Aug. 28, LAN Associates in Midland Park will host a Blood Drive in conjunction with Community Blood Services. The bloodmobile will be parked at LAN Associates, 445 Godwin Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To make an appointment, contact Enza Conforti at (201) 447-6400, extension 235 or ec@lan-nj.com. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Coffee with the Mayor rescheduled Midland Park Mayor Bud O’Hagan has cancelled his monthly “Coffee with the Mayor” session for Saturday, Aug. 18. The program will resume on Saturday, Sept. 15. O’Hagan will welcome the public at 10 a.m. in the second floor conference room at borough hall. Residents are encouraged to stop by and discuss any items of interest in this informal setting. Borough hall is located at 280 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park. Clixes Hot Dog Day scheduled Area families are invited to enjoy food and fun at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church’s Clixes Hot Dog Day on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 3 to 7 p.m. The menu will include hot dogs topped with the locallyacclaimed “Clixes Sauce” from the much beloved Clixes Hot Dog Store, and soda and free popcorn. Attendees will also be able to make their own sundaes. Children may enjoy free face-painting and other activities. Military vehicles will be on display as well as classic cars. The back street will be closed off during the event. The festivities will be located in the rear of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church at 183 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park. Midland Park CRC, a family-friendly church, offers programs for adults and children. Recent events include Vacation Bible School, a musical production of the story of Noah’s Ark, youth mission trip to Ghana, and community prayer walks, among many other activities. Proud of their creations Family and friends of the young students of the Needlecraft School in Midland Park filled the Midland Park High School auditorium for the annual fashion show, when the students model some of the outfits they created throughout the year.
