School budget (continued from page 3) state-mandated new teacher evaluation system. Funds for partial roof replacement at Godwin School, expected to cost $110,000 are also budgeted, as are moneys for the lease of two new school buses. Residents will vote on the proposed budget at the April 17 school board election. Midland Park is one of few towns in the area that chose to maintain the vote on the school budget and continue holding the school election in April. A new state law would have allowed the board the option of changing the school election to coincide with the general election in November and foregoing the budget vote if the proposed tax increase to support the budget stayed within this year’s state-imposed cap of 2 percent.
