Table Tennis Club back in session The Ramsey Recreation Commission has announced that the Ramsey Table Tennis Club has resumed its Tuesday games. Ramsey adults of all skill levels are welcome. Play is open from 6:30 to 9:45 p.m. at Eric S. Smith Middle School, 73 Monroe Street. Paddles and balls are available, but players are invited to bring their own equipment. Participation is free. Church marks special anniversary On Sunday, Oct. 30, the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer will present a concert in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the church’s Peragallo pipe organ. This 4 p.m. concert will feature congregational, vocal, and choral music, and will include organ music from a variety of periods and styles to demonstrate the versatility of the instrument. Registration under way at play center Registration for the winter season at The New Park ‘N Play, an indoor play center located in Ramsey, is open and may be completed at www.thenewparknplay.com. Open to all children from newborn to age six, The New Park ‘N Play offers unlimited play from Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Membership is $225
per family. Those who register by Oct. 1 will receive a $25 discount. Registration forms are available online at www. thenewparknplay.com. During the week of Nov. 7, the center will offer a free Open House to prospective families. The New Park ‘N Play, a non-profit organization run by volunteer parents, provides a creative, safe, and clean indoor play center for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Church in Ramsey will offer a Mass and healing service on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. The Rev. Father John Campoli, I.V. Del., will lead the group in prayer for healing the body, mind, and spirit. All are invited. Saint Paul’s is located at 200 Wyckoff Avenue. Seniors plan trip, host speaker The Ramsey Seniors will host a bus trip to New York City to see “Sister Act” on Wednesday, Nov. 9. The cost is $100 per person and includes transportation, lunch at Pigalle Restaurant, and the show. Sign up beginning Oct.12 at 10 a.m. at borough hall, 33 North Central Avenue, Ramsey. Checks may be made payable to Borough of Ramsey. Proof of residency is required. On Monday, Oct. 24, Valley Hospital Home Health Care Specialist Debbie Szorenpini will offer a presentation on the Lifeline Emergency Response System, and discuss the costs and available discounts. The program will be held at Finch Center at 2 p.m. The fall session of men’s bocce will begin on Oct. 3. The men will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Ladies’ bocce is discontinued until spring. Residents over the age of 65 are invited to participate in the Ramsey Senior Club. Leisure Club to visit Amish country The Ramsey Leisure Club will begin its celebration of the holiday season with a trip to Amish country on Nov. 29 and 30. The overnight trip will include tickets to the Christmas show at the American Music Theater, one night of lodging at the Heritage Hotel with breakfast, family style lunch and dinner, and a visit to Longwood Gardens that includes lunch and tour. Woman’s club hosts events The Woman’s Club of Ramsey will begin the fall season with a Potluck Supper on Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Masonic
Lodge located at North Franklin Turnpike and Lake Street. Members are asked to provide a favorite dish from appetizers to dessert. The club will staff a booth at the Farmers Market on Oct. 2. Helen Mekita will provide pink ribbon pins, with donations earmarked for Gilda’s Club for cancer research. Club President Judy Cusick will provide bandanas for sale with proceeds going to a club’s charity. A military bridge night is planned for Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Lodge in Ramsey. Franklin Turnpike and Main Street in Ramsey, will host its annual Blessing of the Animals at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Memorial Park on Main Street in Ramsey. Reverend Richard Anderson will lead the service. The church welcomes all pets (cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, etc.) and requests that all animals be securely restrained. Toy stuffed animals are also welcome. In event of rain, the blessing will be held inside the church sanctuary. The service will include a freewill offering to benefit local food shelters to ensure pets and their caregivers have food to eat this winter.
