Mahwah
Foundation announces plans for 10K, 5K, Kid Run
On Sunday, Oct. 2, the Mahwah Schools Foundation will hold its annual fundraising 10K/5K and Kid Run races in Mahwah. These events will start and end in Darlington County Park and will be held rain or shine. Each year, the turnout includes serious and not-so-serious runners from the tri-state area, local families, and educators. Proceeds directly benefit Mahwah’s six public schools through the funding of innovative programming, technology and cultural assemblies. In addition to the 10K, 5K, and Kid Run races, the event will also feature family activities, live entertainment, food, giveaways, and the Trails to Wellness health fair. The event will end with the announcement of the winner of the Run to Super Bowl XLVI. The winner of this contest will receive two tickets to Super Bowl XLVI and $1,500 for travel expenses. The 10K will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 10:15 a.m. Award ceremonies will follow each race. For the 10K and 5K, cash prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in each race. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in each race in each age category. The Kid Run, a series of races for children in kindergarten through grade five, will begin at noon. All children registered for the Kid Run will receive a T-shirt and par-
ticipation ribbon. Check in and registration will take place at 7 a.m. for the 10K, 8:30 for the 5K, and 10:30 for the Kid Run. On the day of the race, registration fees will be $30 for the 10K, $25 for the 5K, and $40 for both races. Discounts are available for pre-race day registration and members of the New Jersey Road Runners club or USATF-NJ Members. Kid Run registration fees are $10 per entrant.
