Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • September 7, 2011 Ramsey Day honors public safety heroes A scene from last year’s Ramsey Day. Ramsey Day will return to the borough’s streets on Saturday, Sept. 10. The theme of this year’s event will be “Honor Our Public Safety Heroes.” Once again, this community-wide celebration will include a parade, music, food, activities, prizes, arts and crafts, and a wide array of entertainment. Roving clowns will entertain the crowds, and there will be pony rides and kiddie rides. Free bus rides will also be offered. Ramsey Day participants are invited to begin the day with a hearty pancake breakfast sponsored by the Ramsey Fire Department. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. at the firehouse on Island Road. Don’t linger too long at breakfast, though! The festive Ramsey Day Parade, featuring the world-famous Ramsey High School’s Big Blue Band, will step off at 11 a.m. from Dater School and will proceed down Main Street. After the parade, attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about Ramsey’s community at the various informational booths as they mingle with friends and neighbors, and just have fun. As always, entertainers will be presenting varied programs at the borough’s stages. Entertainment at the Prospect Street Stage will include The Frost Kings, an R&B group, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Trepanation, a local high school rock band, will follow from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The Lou Gallo Band (continued on next page)
