Club resumes meeting schedule The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will meet on Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Ramsey Ambulance Corps on Island Road at 7:30 p.m. Club meetings are open to the public. The club will offer information about the organization at its Main Street booth at Ramsey Day, on Sept. 10. on these experiences to write her first teen novel. ESL tutor training offered Ramsey residents who are interested in becoming English as a Second Language tutors are invited to the next tutor training workshop at the Westwood Public Library. Workshop dates will be Sept. 13, 20, and 27, and Oct. 4 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The training will prepare tutors to teach adults to speak and read English. All books and supplies are furnished free of charge for those tutoring for Ramsey Public Library. Registration is limited. Ramsey Day Dog Show coming up The Twelfth Annual Ramsey Day Dog Show, sponsored by the Ramsey Recreation Commission, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the municipal pool on East Oak Street at 3:30 p.m. Once again, the event will feature a leash-led obstacle course designed by Recreation Commissioner John Sebastian. The registration fee is $5 per category per dog, and pre-registration is suggested. Market includes activities, music The Ramsey Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Street train station, rain or shine. The Ladies Night Out set Ramsey Public Education Foundation will host its Ladies Night Out on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Township. The evening will include food stations, hors d’oeuvres and an open bar, themed prize baskets, a cash prize contest, and a special auction. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Ramsey public schools. Local author discusses new book Meet Margie Gelbwasser, author of the teen book, “Inconvenient,” will discuss her work and the publishing process on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramsey Free Public Library. A resident of Fair Lawn, Gelbwasser was born in Minsk, Belarus and came to America in 1979 at age three. She lived in a rundown apartment in Brooklyn until her family moved to Bergen County where she adjusted to suburban life. Gelbwasser drew market offers the freshest vegetables and produce, artisanal breads, gluten-free baked goods, organic coffees and teas, homemade pastas, honey, jams, cheeses, gourmet nuts, and more. A schedule of vendors, special events, children’s activities, and musical performances is available at www.ramseyfarmersmarket.org, where visitors may also sign up for a weekly e-mail about market specials. On Sept. 11, the featured musician will be Ethan Fiks. Visitors are encouraged to join the Pay it Forward program by dropping off non-perishable food items at a designated market table.
