The program, which will be presented to Ramsey and Saddle River parents of children with special needs, will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 55 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey. Wieseneck, a social worker with over 30 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, has worked for Bergen County Special Services School District as a case manager for students with behavioral challenges and autism spectrum disorders for 13 years. She is currently the director of the BCSSSD CAPE Resource Center and works with parents and professionals in the field of disabilities. The CAPE Resource Center is located in the Community Services Building in Paramus. The center’s staff connects individuals with special needs and professionals to accessible and appropriate services, information, education, and resources regardless of age or disability. Farmers Market celebrates Halloween The Ramsey Farmers Market invites everyone to the Halloween Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Street train station. Entertainment will be provided by musicians Eddie Mercer and Ramsey’s own Joe Tredici. Miss Lorraine will host a special Halloween activity for children, while market vendors continue to sell fresh, local produce and products. Come in costume. Visitors are encouraged to join the Pay it Forward program by dropping off non-perishable food items at a designated market table. Along with donated produce and products from the vendors, all Pay it Forward donations will go to the Center for Food Action. Lio recently announced that 11 seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. Some 34,000 Commended students nationwide are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. The 11 students placed among the top five percent of more than one million students who entered the 2011 scholarship program by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in October of their junior year. ESL tutor training workshop offered Ramsey residents who are interested in becoming English as a Second Language tutors are invited to a workshop at the Westwood Public Library on Nov. 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. The training will prepare tutors to teach adults to speak and read English. Seniors plan Christmas Party Registration for the Ramsey Seniors’ annual Christmas Party will begin on Nov. 1. The event is set for Tuesday, Dec. 6 at noon and will be held at the Ramsey Country Club. The party will feature lunch, dancing and music by Ron Dellapina, door prizes, and a cash prize contest. The cost to attend is $25. Checks should be made payable to the Ramsey Seniors. Proof of residency is required at time of sign up.
