Decandia is Aquinas Scholar at Paramus Catholic
Julia Decandia of Mahwah has been named a Class of 2015 Aquinas Scholar at Paramus Catholic High School. The Paramus Catholic Aquinas Scholars program is a rigorous sequence of courses designed for highly motivated, academically gifted students. These exceptional freshmen were selected for the program as a result of their outstanding academic achievements in grades seven and eight and their excellent performance on the Archdiocese admissions exam and Paramus Catholic’s scholarship exam. Sixty-eight of PC’s Class of 2015 Aquinas Scholars scored in the top 10 percent nationally on the Archdiocese admissions exam. Aquinas Scholars receive a substantial scholarship which is renewable as long as they remain in the program. Scholars complete and exceed Paramus Catholic’s graduation requirements. The program includes honors and Advanced Placement classes and includes a special interdisciplinary seminar, AP World History/World
Religions, which the scholars take their senior year. Paramus Catholic is a co-educational high school of the Archdiocese of Newark offering 124 college preparatory courses, including 27 Honors and 16 AP classes and many athletic, performing arts, and campus ministry programs. Graduates from the Class of 2011 earned about $32 million in scholarships and grants and are attending such prestigious colleges and universities as: Bentley, Brandeis, Carnegie Mellon, Colgate, Columbia, Fairfield, George Washington, Marquette, New York University, Notre Dame, United States Military Academy at West Point, Villanova, and Yale. Over 1,500 students from towns throughout North Jersey and Rockland County, New York travel to the scenic 27-acre campus located at 425 Paramus Road, Paramus. Bus service is provided from most towns.
