Ramsey November 30, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 5 Environmentalists earn grant for recycling projects The Ramsey High School Environmental Club recently received an Environmental Awareness Challenge Grant from the Bergen County Utilities Authority. This grant was awarded in recognition of the recycling efforts of the high school and will be used to purchase a picnic table made from recycled material and additional recycling bins for bottles and cans. The Ramsey High School Environmental Club recycles paper, bottles and cans, batteries, printer cartridges, cell phones, and bottle caps. In addition, the club has been involved in town-wide cleanup efforts, gardening, and raising money for charities such as the World Wildlife Fund and the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. The game was held at the College of New Jersey on Nov. 19. Lexi Kneif scored the game-winning goal, securing Ramsey’s third state title and the team’s first since 2001. Ramsey’s Morgan Coonrad and Robbinsville’s Christine Levering also scored in the championship match. Levering registered the first goal of the game, and Coon- Rams girls win tournament rad answered, tying the game with her 31-yard free kick. Assists were logged by Ramsey’s Gabrielle Martone and Robbinsville’s Kari Nickels. Ramsey’s Nicole Cirilli was credited with four saves, while Robbinsville’s Hannah Binder logged two and Emily Risoldi logged four. The Ramsey Rams ended the season with a record of 21-1-2. The Ravens, who previously won titles in 2008 and 2009, ended the year with a record of 19-3-1.
