Choose from a variety of sweaters, jeans, boots and shoes, blouses, sweatshirts, slacks, and more, all for $3 per bag. This special sale includes a free jacket or coat with every bag of clothes purchased while supplies last. The Clothing Closet is located at the rear of the Ramapo Reformed Church’s education building, located at the corner of Island Road and West Ramapo Avenue in Mahwah. Donations of seasonal clothing are accepted Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Arkin offers jewelry making workshop Glen Arkin will offer a jewelry making workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Mahwah Public Library, 100 Ridge Road. Arkin will assist participants in making a necklace. The program is suitable for pre-teens through adults. An adult must be present with a pre-teen. A $15 non-refundable supply fee must be paid at the time of registration. Registration may be completed at the circulation desk. Space is limited to 22 participants. Advent services announced Holy Cross Lutheran Church-LCMS will begin its fourweek Advent service, “Proclaiming the Wondrous Birth,” on Nov. 30. The services will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held on Wednesdays through Dec. 21. All are welcome. The church, located at 125 Glasgow Terrace in Mahwah, is barrier-free. Celebrate the season with the Mahwah Chamber On Dec. 14, the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its Holiday Luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel, 1 International Boulevard in Mahwah. During this festive annual event, the Chamber will honor its selected Citizen of the Year, Company of the Year, and Organization of the Year. Music will be provided by Select Strings of Mahwah High School, under the direction of Wendy Campbell. The doors will open at 11:45 a.m., and the program will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m. This year’s event sponsor is SERVPRO of Northeast Bergen County, and the corporate sponsors are Bergen Health & Life and MyBergen.com. This event is the Chamber’s largest luncheon of the year. Over 250 attendees are expected to join this celebration. Book & film discussion group to meet The Mahwah Public Library’s Classic Book and Film Society will meet Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. The December film discussion will be John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men.” The club, facilitated by Carolyn Epstein and Rich Thielker, meets one month to discuss classic novels, and the next month views and discusses the film version of the same story. Epstein, a Mahwah resident, is a teacher with Saint Thomas Aquinas College’s English/writing department. Thielker taught film and literature and the history of film at Pascack Valley High School and at the Pascack Valley Community School. This club is free. No registration is necessary. Free rabies clinic available The Mahwah Board of Health will hold its annual free rabies vaccine clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. The clinic will take place at Mahwah Fire Company #1 on Miller Road. (continued from page 3) from members’ contributions to their health benefits. “I understand that the board also remarked that they are frustrated with the process and the length of time it takes, as are we,” Beattie said. “However, we did have a fact-finding hearing scheduled for Sept. 27 which did not take place because we did not receive the documents from the board necessary to prepare for that hearing. The fact-finding hearing is now scheduled for Dec. 15 and we are hopeful that the board will provide the requested documents soon so that we may hold that hearing, rather than continue to delay this process.”
