She had been employed with Phillips Electronics for 20 years, and later as an executive secretary at Okonite Corp. She is survived by her children Michael III of Ramsey and Leisa Shimmel of Pompton Lakes, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Michael Jr., her daughter Marguerite Aquinas Bussell, and her brother Thomas Geraghty. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. She was 79. She received her undergraduate degree in English and history from the College of Saint Elizabeth and her graduate degree in guidance from Seton Hall University. She was a teacher of English and history and a guidance counselor at Lyndhurst High School from 1953 through 1961. She was a substitute teacher in the Mahwah school system for many years. She is survived by her children Marianne Cornell of Wayne, Gina Ferrandino of Chaumont, New York, Marlina Ferrandino of Valley Cottage, New York, and Peter Ferrandino of Toms River, and seven grandchildren. Amie Leigh Harris of Waldwick, and Monroe and Marguery A. Aquinas Greenwood Lake, New York, died Nov. 19. She was 30. She was a graduate of George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo, New York. She was an alternative energy sales representative. She is survived by her parents Jeffery Harris and Laura Harris-Whitby, her stepfather Norman Whitby, her sisters Jessica Mueller and Nicole Harris, and her grandparents Richard Beaumont and Robert and Catherine Harris. Grant Reed Horton of Brighton, Iowa, formerly of Saddle River Township, Sydney, Australia, Oakland, and Holiday, Florida, died Nov. 11. He was 95. He was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of Beethoven Lodge 154, FA&M for over 50 years. He was a sheet metal worker for Spoelstra Brothers for 35 years, and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union No. 25. He was a member of City Island Yacht Club in New York and the Seven Springs Golf Club in Florida. He is survived by his wife Jean of Holiday, Florida, his daughter Susan Winter of Wyckoff, and two granddaughters. He was predeceased by his parents Grant John and Jennie, his brothers John Floyd, Hubert Heath, and David Arms Horton, and his granddaughter Meridyth Susan Winter. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Gretchen Pucciarelli, nee Bornkessel, of Ridgewood died Nov. 18. She was 56. She had been a teacher at Ridgewood Nursery School and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood. She is survived by her husband Albert, her children Melissa, Caroline, Paul, and John, one granddaughter, her mother Rae-Nelle, and her sister Heidi. Arrangements were made by C. C. Father Jerzy (George) Schneider of Ramsey died Nov. 22. He was 88. He was a member of the Salesian Community of Don Bosco Prep High School. He was born at Zywiec, Poland. During WWII, he was interned for four years in a German labor camp. He joined the Salesians in 1945 and made his first profession of vows on Aug. 26, 1946, in Krakow, Poland. He was ordained a priest in Oswiecim on May 30, 1953. He earned a master’s degree in fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 1961, and religious art became his chief apostolate for most of his 58 years as a priest. From 1961 to 1967, he was part of the Salesian community of Oswiecim, and he was rector of the chapel at the Auschwitz concentration camp from 1965 to 1967. He moved to the Salesian community of Don Bosco Prep in 1967. He spent the rest of his life there designing and executing works of liturgical art for numerous churches in the Northeast and for various vestment companies. He taught modern languages, art, and drafting. He went to many local parishes to celebrate Mass in Polish and looked after the numerous Polish immigrants in northern New Jersey and southern New York. He is survived by his children Patricia Calascibetta and Nancy Nazzaro, two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and his sisters Adeline Bednarz, Helen Mapes, and Martha Makowski.
