Seniors announce upcoming events The Senior Christmas Party at the Ramsey Country Club is set for Tuesday, Dec. 6 at noon. The cost is $25 per person and proof of Ramsey residency is required. The current yoga class schedule has been extended, and will meet on Dec. 2 and 9. In January, two yoga classes will be offered each week: Tuesdays at 3 p.m. or Fridays at 9:50 a.m. Classes will begin the week of Jan. 9 and run for eight weeks. The cost is $10 for the session. Sign up at borough hall beginning Dec.12. Space is limited. Participants may sign up for only the Tuesday or the Friday session. Tai Chi will again be offered with an eight-week session from Jan. 5 through March 1. Registration will begin on Dec. 12 at borough hall. The cost is $10 for the course. The Bocce Boys will end their outdoor play on Friday, Dec. 9. Join them for indoor fun during the winter on Tuesday and Friday at the center at 1 p.m. for shuffleboard. Ping pong is offered on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. or Friday at noon. Ramsey Recreation offers table tennis on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Smith School, 73 Monroe Street, for all ages and skill levels. Call Al at (201) 8252925 for more information. The arthritis exercise class with Andree will continue on Monday and Friday at 3:30 p.m. Join Marge and Filly at the center for an afternoon of movies and refreshments on Sundays at 1 p.m. The December schedule includes: “Knight and Day,” Dec. 4; “Flipped,” Dec. 11, and “12 Dogs of Christmas,” Dec. 18. On Jan. 26, a Chinese New Year luncheon celebration will be held at the center. This noon event will include a performance by the Bergen Tai Chi group and a demonstration by the Ramsey Senior Tai Chi participants. Details to follow. Take Time for Yourself’ returns The Ramsey Public Library has re-introduced its “Take Time for Yourself” programs for adults. On Dec. 1, start the holiday season smarter by attending “Power of Food Education: Making the Holidays Health-
ier” session with nutrition expert Robin DeCicco. DeCicco will share tips and pamphlets on how to avoid the typical seasonal weight gain many individuals experience. The program will run from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Betsy Coyne, the PC teacher, will offer three computer workshops for adults. Session one, “Efficiently Searching the Internet,” will meet Dec. 8. Session two, “Using Facebook,” will meet on Dec. 15. Session three, “Where Have All My Photos Gone?” will be held on Dec. 22. Book group to discuss McCullough novel First Presbyterian Church’s Literary Ladies will discuss “The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris” by David McCullough on Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. in the McDermott Room. Ladies’ Christmas Tea set The women of the First Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Ladies’ Christmas Tea on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. The program will include poems, readings, and special music. Performers will include harpist Penny McCulloch, the Agape Handbell Choir, and the “Meandering Minstrels” group. Art and a Cause benefit set The Asperger’s Auxiliary of West Bergen Mental Healthcare will offer Art and a Cause at the Paramus Elks on Route 17 in Paramus on Friday, Dec. 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. The charitable event will benefit programs supported by West Bergen’s Asperger’s Auxiliary. Attendees may enjoy the fine work of local artisans, music by the Fine Tuners Youth String Orchestra, and light refreshments at the reception. All artwork will be for sale. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for youth. Adult tick-

The auxiliary’s members are dedicated to using their skills, time, and talents in support of the activities and mission of West Bergen’s Asperger’s Related Services. The group’s mission is to increase awareness and access to programs and create community involvement in supporting Asperger’s Related Services. This is accomplished, in part, by raising funds that will help individuals in need of services. It also involves enriching programs by providing additional resources or components. Library announces program, sells calendar The Friends of Ramsey Library will present a show featuring Francine Evans and Joel Zelnick in a tribute to the Vegas “Rat Pack” on Jan. 15, 2012. The Friends of the Ramsey Library, a volunteer organization, has available for purchase 2012 Book Lover’s Calendars. Calendars may be purchased at the library throughout the fall. The Friends of Ramsey Library group meets on the second Monday of each month at 10 a.m. in the library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey. New members are welcome. Open to all children from newborn to age six, The New Park ‘N Play offers unlimited play from Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Membership is $225 per family. The New Park ‘N Play, a non-profit organization run by volunteer parents, provides a creative, safe, and clean indoor play center for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
