Community Blood Drive set Blood donors who participate in the Nov. 21 Ramsey Community Blood Drive, which is being held in cooperation with Community Blood Services, will help ensure that the transfusion needs of area patients are met. The drive will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at TD Bank at 1100 Lake Street. To schedule an appointment, call (201) 2513703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Market to move indoors The Ramsey Farmers Market will wind up its outdoor season on Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Main Street train station. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees are welcome to make one last purchase from vendors, who will be offering the best of produce and products. Beginning Sunday, Dec. 4 and running through March 25, the market will move indoors to the Eric Smith School at 73 Monroe Street. The indoor market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 20 vendors will be participating, bringing artisanal breads and cheeses, seasonal fresh produce, homemade chili, gourmet coffees and teas, nuts, homemade toffee, and so much more. The Pay it Forward program collection will continue. Breakfast, Girl Scout Nights set On Sunday, Nov. 20, Chili’s Restaurant at 900 Route 17 North in Ramsey, will sponsor an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast to benefit the Ramsey Girl Scouts. The breakfast will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. and will include pancakes, bacon, coffee, tea, and juice. Tickets are $5 per person and may be purchased at the door. On Nov. 18 and 19, Chili’s will sponsor two fundraisers for the Ramsey Girl Scouts. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of food purchased from 11 a.m. to midnight to the Scouts. Holiday Fair, special preview set Saint John’s Memorial Episcopal Church, located at the corner of Main Street and Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey, will host its Holiday Fair on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 to 3 p.m. Admission is free. There will be crafts and shopping at the Holiday Dollar Parlor for children while parents select purchases from a wide variety of theme baskets and hand-crafted, high-quality holiday gifts. The fair will offer homemade gourmet foods, apple pies, and a large selection of baked goods. The Saint John’s Café will serve breakfast and lunch. On Friday, Nov. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m., a special preview will be offered. For a $7 donation, shoppers will get first dibs on fair items in addition to wine, hors d’oeuvres, and a special auction.

Thanksgiving Day Drive announced On Nov. 18, Ramsey Responds will hold its annual Thanksgiving Day Drive to provide food and gift cards to community members in need. Food donations will be accepted from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center located in Finch Park. Items will be distributed to local families later that day. Monetary donations may be made any time. Ramsey Responds, a non-profit volunteer organization, is dedicated to helping to serve those members of the community who are in need of assistance. Ramsey Responds has provided residents and recipients with food, clothing, household items, and financial assistance to help pay medical, rent, temporary housing, and utility bills. Group to discuss ‘Mr. Rosenblum’ The Connections Book Group at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey will discuss “Mr. Rosenblum Dreams in English” by Natasha Solomons on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The discussion will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Metzger Room of the church at 15 Shuart Lane. Copies of the book are available at the Ramsey Library. All are welcome. (continued from page 4) Indian Hills High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a master’s in history from University of Virginia. He later earned a Ph.D. in history from Rutgers. Moore became principal of Ramapo High School in 2007. He previously served as assistant principal of the George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood, and as assistant director of curriculum and instruction for grades seven through 12 in the Hackensack schools. Prior to his work in Hackensack, Moore taught history at Ridgewood High School. Moore and his wife are active parishioners of Guardian Angel Church. Their children attend the public schools.
