In cooperation with then-Ramsey Borough Administrator Nicholas Saros and with the guidance of Assistant Scoutmaster and Ramsey Tree Commission member Jay McMahon, Troyer designed and implemented a landscaping plan which involved removing the weeds, garbage, debris, and excess rocks from the triangle, applying weed block and spreading fresh topsoil and mulch throughout the triangle and tree box areas, and planting new junipers. The project also involved repairing the broken curb and repairing or replacing the broken or missing portions of the tree box wooden frames. In June 2010, he graduated with highest honors from Ramsey High School, where he received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. He is currently a freshman at Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences. Troyer was active in theater at the high school. His talents were recognized at the 2010 New Jersey Thespian Festival, where he received a “superior” medal in the Musical Theater Duet category. He also produced music playlists for Ramsey High School’s morning “radio” program and wrote music reviews for the school newspaper. He studied piano at the Academy of Music in Nyack for several years, and has played piano for his church, Manhattan Mennonite Fellowship in New York City. In April 2008, he helped families in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, rebuild homes damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Troyer thanks the Cub Pack 175 and Scout Troop 31 adult leaders, volunteers, fellow Scouts, camp staff, and Merit Badge counselors. He especially thanked his project mentor, Frank Miller.
