On Wednesday, March 2 at 3:20 p.m., Detective Brian Huth was advised that the Fort Lee Police Department had a warrant for a Ramsey resident and he began an investigation. Detective Huth located the 43-year-old Ramsey man and arrested him. the investigation, a 61-year-old Westwood man was arrested for shoplifting. At 2:52 p.m. on Friday, March 4, Sergeant Angelo LaManna was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business for a shoplifter in custody. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 46-year-old Suffern, New York woman was arrested for shoplifting. On Tuesday, March 5 at 4:55 p.m., Sergeant Kevin Kelly assisted the Mahwah Police Department in locating a vehicle on Island Avenue. After locating the vehicle, it was determined that there were two traffic warrants for the driver. A 30-year-old Pine Brook man was arrested. At 6:01 p.m. the same day, Officer Jeff Guilfoyle was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business for a shoplifter in custody. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 60-year-old Suffern, New York woman was arrested for shoplifting. On Sunday, March 6 at 2:06 a.m., Officer Brian Arsi witnessed a two-car motor vehicle crash on Franklin Turnpike. While speaking to the driver of one of the vehicles, he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage. At the conclusion of field sobriety testing, a 47-year-old New Canaan, Connecticut man was arrested for driving while intoxicated. At 11:06 a.m. the same day, Officer Diane Bornkamp was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business for a shoplifter in custody. At the conclusion of
the investigation, a 54-year-old Mahwah woman was arrested for shoplifting. On Tuesday, March 8 at 8:12 p.m., Officer Anthony Fiore conducted a motor vehicle stop after witnessing a motor vehicle violation. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected from the driver. At the conclusion of field sobriety testing, a 49-yearold Maryland man was arrested for driving while intoxicated. On Wednesday, March 9 at 3:51 p.m., Officer Mike Parise was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business for a shoplifter in custody. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 54-year-old Mahwah woman was arrested for shoplifting and assault. On Saturday, March 12 at 10:58 a.m., Officer Parise conducted an investigation of a suspicious person on Route 17 South. During the investigation, it was determined that the 36-year-old Nanuet, New York man had an active traffic warrant and he was arrested.
The First Friday Fellowship Group of the First Presbyterian Church celebrated the beginning of the Lenten season with a Mardi Gras luncheon with a traditional King Cake for dessert. This popular event has been celebrated in the United States for hundreds of years. Christian Education Director Florence Ditko led the group in making decorative masks for the occasion.
