Ramsey March 16, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 9 A talented cast of students from Don Bosco Prep, Immaculate Heart Academy, and the Academy of Holy Angels will perform in Don Bosco Prep’s production of “Jekyll & Hyde” on March 25, 26, and 27, and April 1 and 2, in DeSales Hall Auditorium at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey. “Jekyll & Hyde” is the story of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a young research scientist and physician whose father had spent time in an asylum for the insane. He blames his father’s illness on his evil side, so he seeks to isolate the dual aspects of good and evil present in every man. His experiment unwittingly causes the release of his own carefully guarded dark side, which is embodied in his alter ego, Mr. Edward Hyde, a terrifying murderer who roams the city of London. “Jekyll & Hyde,” the musical, is based upon the novella, “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” written by Robert Louis Stevenson. First produced as a musical in 1990 at the Houston’s Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre, the musical opened on Broadway in 1997, ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ coming to stage at Don Bosco Prep where it was nominated for four Tony Awards. The male lead performing as Jekyll/Hyde, Mr. Robert Ciccioli, won the Drama Desk Award for Best Actor in a Musical. The female lead, Linda Eder who performed the role of Lucy, won the Theater World Award for Outstanding debut Performer in 1997. Don Bosco Prep’s performances are produced by Lucille Conzo, directed by Jodi Capless, and choreographed by Kimberly Galberaith, with music direction by Ed Ginter. Many of Don Bosco Prep’s previous musicals have been nominated for Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star and Helen Hayes High School Theater Awards. “Jekyll & Hyde” will be presented March 25 and 26 and April 1 and 2 at 8 p.m., and March 27 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15.
