This annual national event gets its name from the traditional Cub Scout colors. The tradition started in 1933. In 1943, the name Blue and Gold Banquet first appeared in BSA literature, and became synonymous with celebrating the birthday of Scouting. Before the dinner, the boys must complete the achievement tasks for each rank. Pack 197 thanks special guest Kyle Dontoh for his inspiring speech, and all the parents who keep the pack going. The night of the banquet, magician and comedian Tommy Knucklehead entertained, and a gift basket fundraiser raised over $1,200 for the Friends of Scouting.
