Freund, owner of Freund Associates Technical Communication in Mahwah, to the Bergen County Workforce Investment Board for a three-year term. The goal of the Bergen County Workforce Investment Board is to help employers become competitive in a global economy and to help individuals attain the skills necessary for employment or better employment. The board’s role is to identify and coordinate all the resources in the community to achieve this goal. “The programs offered through the county’s workforce development system are tremendous resources, so are the county’s Chambers of Commerce,” said Dr. Freund. “As the immediate past president of the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce and as a current MRCC board member, I hope to find ways to bring these two resources together. We need to find innovative and creative ways to collaborate, communicate, and connect the county’s workforce with the workplace.” Freund holds a doctorate in English from the State University of New York at Albany, and M.A. and B.A. degrees in English. Prior to her business career, Dr. Freund was a tenured, associate professor of English, teaching technical writing, literature, composition, and business communication. She is a member of the Society for Technical Communication and the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce.
