There will be a free performance for senior citizens on Wednesday, March 9 at 4 p.m. “City of Angels,” a fabulous blend of post war jazz, orchestrates a story line that jumps from classic film noir to Hollywood glamour. Actors bounce back and forth between characters in the shadowy black and white world of a hard-boiled detective film and the larger than life world of Hollywood peppered with film royalty. Nobody escapes unscathed in the witty and irreverent glimpse at some of the film and industry’s favorite icons. Premium tickets cost $15 for adults and $8 for students; general admission tickets are $12 and $6. The large family rate for Mahwah residents is $285 for early subscribers and $360 after April 30. For Mahwah singles and small families, the rate for early subscribers is $115; $150 after April 30. The rate for Mahwah seniors is $40 per person. The special rate for Mahwah Emergency Services personnel is $25 per family. For non-resident large families the rate is $400; the nonresident individual and small family rate is $200. Membership application forms will be mailed to all Mahwah residents and former non-resident pool members the first week in April. After that date, extra forms will be available at the Mahwah Municipal Building, 475 Corporate Drive and at the public library on 100 Ridge Road. For more information, call (201) 529-1265. ‘Rendezvous with Treason’ offered Spend an afternoon with our nation’s most intriguing anti-hero, Benedict Arnold, and his accomplice in treason, Major John Andre, on Sunday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at the Mahwah Public Library. Actors Gary Petagine and Sean Grady bring Arnold and Andre to life in the interactive, dramatic program, “Rendezvous with Treason.” Attendees will have an opportunity to chat with our nation’s most notorious traitor. “Rendezvous with Treason” is free. Lenten services announced Holy Cross Lutheran Church will offer Lenten services beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 9. This service of repentance and prayer will include the imposition of ashes at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Lenten Services will continue every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The services will all include Holy Communion. Networking events announced The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce is offering two events in March which include other area chambers. On March 8, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Mahwah Chamber will participate in a multi-chamber speed networking event at the Garden State Plaza Food Court, One Garden State Plaza in Paramus. More than 175 businesses from the Hackensack, Fair Lawn, Paramus, and north jersey chambers are expected to attend. This event will be a fun-filled, table-hopping, networking experience, hosted by Westfield Garden State Plaza. Attendees will meet members of many local chambers and exchange valuable contact information in only three minutes. Invite your colleagues and friends to participate, and bring plenty of business cards. Light refreshments will be offered from 7:30 to 8 a.m., followed by speed networking in three-minute intervals from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The cost is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. Prepaid registration is required to guarantee participation. Mahwah Chamber members will join with the Ridgewood, Ho-Ho-Kus, and Waldwick chambers for a regional business card exchange on Wednesday, March 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the YWCA of Ridgewood, 112 Oak Street, in Ridgewood. Corned Beef Dinner set The Ramapo Reformed Church, 100 Island Road, will hold a Saint Patrick’s Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Saturday, March 12. This all you can eat event will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The buffet dinner will include homemade pasta with meatballs and sausage, white clam sauce for the Lenten season, salad, bread, coffee, and dessert. Soda and wine will be provided. The cost of this event will be $8 for seniors, $9 for adults, $5 for children ages six through 12, and free for children five years old and under. The Elks’ Saint Patrick’s Day Family Feast will be March 13. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 2 p.m. The feast will include a full corned beef dinner, soda, beer, and dessert. There will also be a special children’s menu. Irish dancers will make a special appearance. The cost of this event is $15 for adults, $5 for children, and free for children age six and under. Tickets for the event are sold in advance only. All are invited to this free opportunity to network with other businesses and learn what’s new with the Chamber. All attendees will be able to introduce themselves. Women invited to morning of reflection The Church of the Immaculate Conception will offer a morning of prayer, reflection, and discussion on the meaning of work for women on Saturday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Under discussion will be work, both in and outside of the home, paid and unpaid, and how it can be a spiritual endeavor and a way to grow in faith.
