Hotspurs take first place
Three Ramsey residents recently excelled at the 2011 Ken Garabadian Closter Novice Wrestling Tournament. First place winners were Ramsey’s Frankie Monte (8U), Michael Laino (8U), and Robert Zevzavadjian (10U).
Outstanding wrestlers
Seventeen Bergen Catholic High School’s senior student-athletes participated in a letter-signing ceremony that was held at the school on “National Letter Signing Day.” Student-athletes from several sports signed letters of intent to reveal the colleges that plan to attend in the fall. Players who reside locally are mentioned below. Tight end Jack Gallagher of Allendale caught four passes for 28 yards and three TDs (including two scores against powerhouse Don Bosco Prep) last season. Student-athletes attend National Letter Signing Day
Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Soccer star Marc Teitelbaum of Upper Saddle River will take his talents to Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, after a strong season that earned him SecondTeam All-County and First-Team AllLeague awards. Jamie Ward of Glen Rock had a “breakout” season on the lacrosse field last spring as he tied for the B.C. team scoring lead with 34 goals and added six assists for a total of 40 points. He will attend The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in the fall.
Raiders are champs
The Ramapo Raiders Bowling Team recently finished the season as the Division 3 champions and placed second overall in the Bergen County state tournament.
