Baseball pitching clinics set The Township of Mahwah Youth Sports Boosters will offer pitching and catching clinics for boys’ at Carty Gym in Mahwah High School. Clinics for boys in grades three through eight will be held on Friday, March 4, 11, 18, and 25. Session I will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and session II will be from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. The older boys will attend the second session. Applications are available at www.MahwahYouthSports.org. Morning Meet & Greet planned The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a free Morning Meet & Greet on Thursday, March 31. The networking event is being hosted by TD Bank, and will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at TD Bank’s Atrium building, 535 East Crescent Avenue in Ramsey. All are invited to this free opportunity to network with other businesses and learn what’s new with the Chamber. All attendees will be able to introduce themselves. Chamber members are also invited to bring their promotional material and literature for the event’s information table. Refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is encouraged. Harlem Wizards take on Mahwah Thunder The Harlem Wizards will play a friendly game of basketball against the Mahwah Thunder, a team comprised of Mahwah teachers, policeman, fireman, and others on Friday, March 4 at Ramapo Ridge Middle School. The Harlem Wizards will showcase their amazing basketball talent combined with comedy. The team will perform a wide array of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing, and aerodynamic athleticism combined with high-energy comedy and audience interaction. This event promises to be two hours of family fun. Tickets for the game are $10 per person and may be purchased at www.mahwah.k12.nj.us/hs. Food, drinks, and Harlem Wizards souvenirs will be available for purchase at the event. The game is a fundraiser for the “Safe Night” gala held on graduation night for seniors from Mahwah High School. The gala provides a venue for the senior class to spend a last, safe drug- and alcohol-free night together. Board of health sets meeting The Mahwah Board of Health will meet on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. The session will be held in the municipal building, 475 Corporate Drive. Kindergarten registration set The Mahwah Board of Education will hold kindergarten registration for children who will be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2011 will be held at the neighborhood schools on the following dates: George Washington, 39 Fardale Avenue, (201) 762-2241, March 11; Betsy Ross, 20 Malcolm Avenue, (201) 762-2251, March 1 and 11; Lenape Meadows, 160 Ridge Road, (201) 762-2261, March 1 and 11. Parents are encouraged to call the school their child is scheduled to attend to request a registration packet and set up an appointment. Elks plan events The Mahwah Elks, 1 Foxwood Lane, Mahwah will host an All You Can Eat Breakfast on March 6 from 8 to
11 a.m. The buffet breakfast will include any style eggs, pancakes, french toast, bacon and sausage, home fries, and toast. Coffee, tea, and juice will be served. The cost of the event is $5 for seniors, $6 for adults, $3 for children ages six through 12, and free for children age five and under. On March 11, the Elks will hold a Pasta Night. This all you can eat event will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The buffet dinner will include homemade pasta with meatballs and sausage, white clam sauce for the Lenten season, salad, bread, coffee, and dessert. Soda and wine will be provided. The cost of this event will be $8 for seniors, $9 for adults, $5 for children ages six through 12, and free for children five years old and under. The Elks’ Saint Patrick’s Day Family Feast will be March 13. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 2 p.m. The feast will include a full corned beef dinner, soda, beer, and dessert. There will also be a special children’s menu.
Irish dancers will make a special appearance. The cost of this event is $15 for adults, $5 for children, and free for children age six and under. Tickets for the event are sold in advance only. For GPS directions to the Mahwah Elks, use 13 Foxwood Lane, Suffern New York, as the lodge is on the Suffern border. ‘Sound Doctrine’ discussion set The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mahwah will explore themes in music at the next meeting of “Sound Doctrine” on Thursday, March 3 at 8 p.m. at the Abbey at the Ramsey Golf and Country Club, 105 Lakeside Drive in Ramsey.
