She was an office manager with Scott Foresman in Oakland, and a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes. She is survived by her children David Locher of Monroe, New York, and Sharon Heisler of Mahwah, and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Francis X. Locher. Marcus of Glen Rock died Feb. 20. He was 62. He was a mechanic for Passaic Valley Sewage Commission in Newark, and operated C. Marcus Disposal of Glen Rock. He was a life member of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughters Dawn Maley of Vernon, Denise Eboli of Hewitt, and Tammy Paladino of Highland Lakes, seven grandchildren, his mother Jennie Marcus of Wyckoff, and his brother John Marcus of Montgomery, New York. Emil L. Porfido of Ramsey died Feb. 20. He was 80. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He later attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a parishioner of Saint Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey. With his wife, he was the owner of Beauty Plus Barber Pole in Interstate Shopping Center in Ramsey in 1957. He served as the president of the New Jersey Masters Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association, successfully leading a state-wide drive to raise standards for hairdressing licensing in New Jersey. He was a member of the Ramsey Board of Education. He also served as Ramsey’s full time mayor from 1975 to 1987. As mayor, he was involved in numerous projects, including the first Ramsey Day, renovations of the Ramsey train station and two train crossings, and parking improvements along Main Street and at the train station. He served as chairman of the Bergen County Transportation Coordinating Committee for Route 17 improvements. A Children’s Park was dedicated to him in 2001 in the Ramsey neighborhood where he raised his family. He served as executive director of the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority. He was senior vice president of Whiteweld, Barrister & Brown, a real estate firm. He is survived by his wife Margie, and was the beloved father of Emil (Chip) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Meg Feuer of Boulder, Colorado, June Locher Michael of Wanaque, and Diana Samona of Stockholm, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his brother Tony, and sister-in-law Antonietta. With his wife, he was owner and operator of Trattoria Fratelli restaurant in Ridgewood for 17 years. He was the founder and sponsor of the Opera in the Park, held in Ridgewood from 1994 to 2003. He is survived by his wife Sara (nee Kress), his children Claudio, Norma Riva Schipper, Sergio Riva and Mario Riva, and four grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Eleanor Spann, nee Kletcher, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Wyckoff and Hawthorne, died Feb. 18. She was 80. She and her husband owned and operated Spann’s Bakery in Hawthorne. She is survived by her children Joyce Smith of Mahwah, Ellen Iversen of Little Falls, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Max F. She was 86. She retired from the New York City Board of Education as principal of the Brooklyn Center for Multiply-Handicapped Children. She is survived by her children Jeffrey Strauss, Daniel Strauss, David Russell Jr., Sargent Russell, Marjorie Russell, Sara Melling, daughter-in-law Ann Strauss, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was employed by the Eastern Christian School Association in North Haledon for over 33 years, first as a bus driver and then as transportation coordinator. She was a member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church in North Haledon. She is survived by her children John Vogel of Tucson, Arizona, Tom Vogel of Hamburg, Jim Vogel of Franklin Lakes, Jerry Vogel of Lincoln Park, Henry Vogel of Warwick, New York, and Sheri Lynn Mulcock of North Haledon, 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and her brother Garret Dykhouse of Wyckoff. She was the founder and sole owner of the Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital in Franklin Lakes. She graduated from Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes and attended Cornell University before receiving her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Mahwah Board of Health, and served on the boards of several charitable organizations. She and staff members volunteered medical support to Katrina animal victims, and Friends of Animals rescue missions in Utah. She is survived by her husband Donald Muller, her children Brigette, Jack, Kyra, and Reese, her parents Joe and Joan Welch of Franklin Lakes, her brother Michael of Ringwood, and her in-laws Marilyn and Don Muller from Mahwah.
