Democrat Louis Moore received 60 ballots in his party’s primary, while incumbent GOP Councilmen Bruce Vozeh and Kenneth Tyburczy received 129 and 127 ballots, respectively, in the Republican election. Although there were no challengers in either primary, the three newly-endorsed candidates will vie for the two council seats available in the November general election. Moore grew up in Oakland, where he attended the public schools. After his graduation from Indian Hills High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a master’s in history from University of Virginia. He then returned to Rutgers, and earned his Voters endorse candidates in uncontested primaries Ph.D. in history. The candidate has been principal of Ramapo High School since July 2007. He previously served as assistant principal of the George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood, and as assistant director of curriculum and instruction for grades seven through 12 in the Hackensack schools. Prior to his work in Hackensack, Moore was a history teacher at Ridgewood High School. Moore has been a Ramsey resident since 2007. He and his wife are active parishioners of Guardian Angel Church. The two have three children, two of whom attend the public schools; the youngest will begin kindergarten in the fall. Tyburczy was named to the council in August 2010 to fill the seat vacated when Andrew Siemsen resigned. In November 2010, Tyburczy was elected to Siemsen’s oneyear unexpired term. The incumbent is a certified project manager and is currently working with Pearson Education in Upper Saddle River. He was previously an accountant and auditor for KPMG, and worked in IT for almost 10 years in various administration and management roles. Tyburczy received a master’s degree in information systems from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and marketing with a minor in economics from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, where he was an honors graduate. He also received his diploma with honors in computer technical support from The Chubb Institute in Parsippany. An active member of his community, Tyburczy is involved with the Knights of Columbus at Saint Paul’s parish, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Ramsey UNICO, and Ramsey OEM. He is treasurer of the Hubbard School PTO, head coach for girls’ T-ball, and assistant coach for the boys’ baseball clinic. He has served as secretary/treasurer and vice president of Business Network International. In 2010, he chaired the Health, Education, & Social Services Committee, and was a member of the Utilities, Buildings, & Grounds and Finance & Administration committees. This year, he is chairman of the Building, Planning, & Zoning Committee and a member of the Health, Education, & Social Services and Public & Governmental Relations committees. The councilman and his family moved to Ramsey in November 2006. He and his wife, Eileen, have two children. Vozeh is a life-long Ramsey resident. The two-term borough councilman has served as council president and is currently finance chairman. The candidate is a graduate of Bucknell University and of Pace University, where he received his MBA. Vozeh is vice president of Sempra Commodities. Before he was elected to the council, he was a Ramsey Board of Education trustee and chaired the Personnel Committee and served on the Finance and Buildings & Grounds committees. Vozeh’s community activities include service as treasurer of the Ramsey Baseball & Softball Association, trustee for Hotspur Soccer, and coach for youth sports. He and his wife, Bettina, have three children. They are members of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Patrolman Craig Weber was dispatched to a Ramsey Square business for a shoplifter in custody at 1:45 p.m. on June 2. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 60-year-old Ramsey woman was arrested. At 10:50 p.m. the same day, Sergeant Kevin Cherven was dispatched to Church Street to assist an intoxicated male. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 44-year-old Utah man was arrested for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. On June 3 at 1:12 p.m., Patrolman Craig Weber was dispatched to the parking lot of Village Square on a report of two men smoking marijuana in a vehicle. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 29-year-old Newark man was arrested for possession of marijuana. At 4:02 p.m. on June 4, a Ramsey Square business reported a male shoplifter fled the store. Responding patrol officers were unable to locate him. At 5:16 p.m., Police Officer Jaclyn Morris located the male on Island Road. After a foot pursuit, a 27-year-old Suffern, New York man was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and receiving stolen property. At approximately 10:31 p.m. that day, Patrolman Casey Hines was dispatched to Route 17 South for a reported drunk driver. Upon arrival, the officer located the vehicle. At the conclusion of field sobriety testing, a 29-year-old Ringwood man was arrested for driving while intoxicated. On June 5 at 11:38 a.m., Patrolman Mike Parise investigated a suspicious person standing on the shoulder of Route 17 South. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 41-yearold Athens, New York man was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. The same day, Patrolman Anthony Fiore was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business at 7:04 p.m. for a shoplifter in custody. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 39-year-old Greenwood Lake, New York woman was arrested. At 1:23 p.m. on June 6, a 56-year-old Ramsey man reported to headquarters to satisfy a traffic warrant. Patrolman Mike Parise processed the arrest.
