(continued from page 6) stage. Accompanied by all five of Ramsey’s prior Idol winners, Brogowski led the celebrity group in a rendition of “I’m Walking on Sunshine.” Only a few teary-eyed audience members knew that Gracie had battled her way through the audition process, completely unphased by having Cerebral Palsy. It was unforgettable for all. The ensuing sing-off was a truly stunning display of talent. Katie Evans, Kristen Garone, Abby Greenberg, Erika Lynch, Mikayla Nelson, Andrew Ratto, Martin Soll, Sabrina Sudol, James Zitelli, Samantha Stecyna, and Fowler each sang for the 800 lucky attendees. Not one of the finalists performed for him or herself. Each one took to the stage knowing he or she was representing an entire generation of proud Ramsey DARE kids. In the end, the audience had a tough choice. Separated by the slimmest of margins, Fowler became the audience’s top choice. He then took to the stage for an encore performance as the 2011 Ramsey DARE Idol. As the newest and youngest Idol, Fowler enters into an elite group of high-profile local role models. Admired by their fans of all ages, prior winners Ciara Bosh, Kelly O’Keefe, Mary Kate Kelly, Bridget Scanlon, and Maggie Sciabica have all lead by example, and have upheld the admirable qualities associated with the DARE Idol title.
