McMahon The Mahwah Council has adopted an ordinance that provides for the appropriation of $700,000 for the resurfacing of several township roads and the purchase of fire department equipment. The ordinance includes $650,000 for resurfacing of several roads in the township. Those roads include Airmount Road from Franklin Turnpike to Airmont Avenue, and Armour Road from Kilmer Road to Airmount Road. Both of these roads are located in the Cragmere section of the township. Additional township roads that will be resurfaced are: the entire length of Van Bolen Way, which is in the Fardale section near Wyckoff; Rock Ridge Road, which is in the north central portion of the township, from Franklin Turnpike to Oweno Road; Meadow Lake Drive, which is near Route I-287; Campgaw Road, from Fyke Road to the cul-de-sac; and North Ramapo Avenue, which is at the northern end of the township, from Route 202 to the New York State line. Resurfacing work will also be carried out on the entire length of Osborne Court, which is accessed from Masonicus Road, and the entire length of Shuart Road, which is at the end of McIntosh Drive. Both of these roads are located in the northeastern portion of the township. The ordinance also includes $50,000 for the acquisition of fire department turnout gear and safety equipment, including all related costs and expenditures incidental to those expenditures. The resurfacing and equipment The New York Red Bull Youth Academy team will play the Mahwah Raiders U16 boys team at Mahwah High School on Saturday, June 11 at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help send the Mahwah Raiders team to Cesenatico, Italy this summer to play in the Italy Cup tournament. In addition to the game, the event Soccer game benefit announced will feature halftime entertainment and prizes, including autographed Red Bull merchandise and Red Bull game tickets. Refreshments will also be available. Tickets will only be sold at the door. Prices are $3 for adults and $2 for children. The game will be held rain or shine. For more information, visit mahwahraiders.org. costs will be covered by the issuance of $665,000 in bonds or notes, and a $35,000 down payment, which was made available by virtue of a provision for a down payment or for capital improvement purposes in one or more previously approved township budgets. According to the ordinance, those bonds issued under the provisions of this ordinance will mature at times that will be determined by the township’s chief financial officer, but no note can mature later than one year from its date of issue. Any grant monies received for these purposes must be applied either to direct payment of the cost of the improvements or to the payment of the obligations issued under this ordinance. There was no public comment during the public hearing on the adoption of the ordinance, which was adopted by a unanimous vote of the council.
