Kenneth J. Braun Jr. of Mahwah, formerly of Union City, died July 18. He was 55. He was employed by Riplay of California. His 35-year career in the shoe industry also included eight years as vice president of Steve Madden’s men’s line. A graduate of Union Hill High School in Union City, he led the school’s football team in its championship win in 1974. He is survived by his wife Debra (nee Rothman), his children Kenneth J. Braun III and Jenna N. Braun, and his siblings Diane (Braun) Kellenberger, Marianne (Braun) Taormina, and Frank Braun, Pat Russo, and Virginia Longo. Arrangements were made by Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, New York. Memorial donations may be made to the college fund for Kenneth III and Jenna Braun. Barbara Ann Gaston, nee Griesser, of Mahwah died July 17. She was 79. Before retiring, she had worked in ceramics for 25 years. She had owned and operated Busy Bee Ceramics in Washington Township. She is survived by her husband Alfred Rosen, her children Michael Gaston, Kevin Gaston, Dennis Gaston, and Joseph F. Gaston, five grandchildren, and her brother Charles Griesse. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Bono. Arrangements were made by Robert Spearing Funeral Home, Inc. in Park Ridge. Elizabeth M. Maki, nee Gaston, of Ramsey died July 17. She was 89. She was a graduate of Ramsey High School. During World War II, she worked at Montgomery Ward and Curtiss Wright. She was involved in the Girl Scouts, her children’s clubs and activities, and in fundraising for charities such as the American Cancer Society. She is survived by her children Peggy, Allan, and Robert, six grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband Allan A. Maki. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. A memorial service will be held for Dorothy Monahan of Naples, Florida, formerly of Mahwah, Oakland, and Panther Valley, on Aug. 1 at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Avenue in Mahwah at 11 a.m. Michael J. “Mike” Perrotta of Wyckoff, formerly of Hawthorne, died July 18. He was 92. He was the vice president of the UAW Local 906 at the Ford Motor Plant in Mahwah and later served as the vice president of the UAW Retirees. He was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s RC Church in Wyckoff. He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Portella) Perrotta, his daughter Jean M. Riva of North Haledon, and one granddaughter. Rev. E. Neill Richards of Glen Rock died July 15. Before retiring in 2000, he was a minister serving with the United Church of Christ Board for World Ministries as director of missionary services, and later as director of the UCC’s World Hunger programs. He was a member of the Community Church of Glen Rock, and had been an active volunteer at the Glen Rock Library, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and Whittier College Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife Jessie Marilyn, his sons Ross, Tendai, and Mark, six grandchildren, and his brother the Rev. Dr. Stacy Richards. She was 94. In young adulthood, she hosted a radio show in Binghamton, New York. She embarked on a newspaper career, first in Owego, New York and then at the Syracuse Post-Standard. She was editor for Beauty Fashion magazine in New York City, and before retiring, she was vice president of public relations of the United States headquarters of Myrurgia Perfumes of Barcelona, later Fragrances Selective. She was a Girl Scout leader, a was a member of the Ramsey Free Public Library Board, the Ramsey Historical Association and Old Stone House Museum, the Ladies’ Auxiliary at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, the New Jersey Symphony, and other groups. She was a member of the Saint John’s Memorial Episcopal Church in Ramsey. She is survived by her children Jane Hylicke of Bridgewater and Joe Sage of Scottsdale, Arizona, one granddaughter, one great-grandson, and her siblings Jeff Lyon of Watkins Glen, New York, and Doris Frank of Berlin. She was predeceased by her husband Joe, and her sister Virginia Deyo. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. David Russell Saunders of Franklin Lakes, formerly of New Canaan, Connecticut and New York City, died July 15. He was 48. He was an IT executive with Continuum Health Partners in New York City. He was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes. He is survived by his wife Laura (nee Puccini) Saunders of Franklin Lakes, his children Carolyn, Maxwell, and Amelia, his mother Anne (nee Russell), and his sisters Cynthia Valovich and Karen Heindinger. She was a member of the Waldwick Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Walk Club in Paramus. She is survived by children William E. Schust, and Elaine Gaynor, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William, and her brother Edgar Hunt. He is survived by his wife Fonda (nee Lowell), his sons Eugene C., Louis S., Jr., and Jay E., eight grandchildren, and his brother John of Franklin Lakes. He was a 1974 graduate of Mahwah High School and owned T.V. Masonry for many years. He was a member of Boat US. He is survived by his children Thomas and Natalie Vanasse, and Shane Milano, two grandchildren, his siblings Karen DiPietro, Allan Vanasse, and Norma Van Zile, Michelle Mulkeen, and his companion Maura Sissler. He is survived by is children Charles, Karen, Kathleen, James, and Candice. He was predeceased by his wife Alice M. (O’Hara).
