Church hosts patriotic service
The First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey held a hymn sing and a patriotic service to honor all those who have served, or are serving, in the United States Armed Services. Special tribute was paid to John Erickson, one of the church’s senior members, who was a major in the Third Marine Division, and in active duty in the Pacific Theater Operations from 1943–45. His division was in Auckland, New Zealand in 1942 and participated in the following campaigns from 1943-45: Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Guam, Solomon Islands, Admiralty Islands, and
Iwo Jima. The Men’s Choir performed a medley of patriotic songs including ‘The Caisson Song,’ ‘Semper Paratus,’ and ‘Anchors Aweigh.’ Coordinating the service were oraganist Linda Sweetman Waters and Rev. Beverly Dempsey. Pictured at left are Mike Treni, Tim Edler, Jerry Duvall, Hoover Chin, Mike Peri, and Frank Hunter.
