The Girl Scouts are both in the eighth grade at the Eric S. Smith Middle School in Ramsey and are Cadet Girl Scouts. Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge Inc. is Bergen County’s leading non-profit, no-kill shelter. RBARI rescues abused, abandoned, or unwanted animals and attempt to find them kind and loving homes. For their project, the girls are collecting canned and bagged cat and dog food and other supplies on the shelter’s ‘wish list.’ They have placed collection boxes at the Ramsey Library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue and at Ramsey Borough Hall at 33 North Central Avenue, and are holding collection drives in front of PETCO in Ramsey. Pindar Council #3962, has announced the organization’s officers for the Columbian Year, which started July 1. Msgr. Lawrence W. Cull will serve as chaplain emeritus, and Rev. Richard Kelly has been named acting chaplain. The following K of C members are beginning their second year in the following positions: Michael Adams, grand knight; Ronald Damato, deputy grand knight; Alex Stecyna, chancellor; Lawrence Walsh, recorder; Roger Spain, warden; Anthony Salemo, advocate; and Scott Deas, lecturer. Long-time Treasurer Roy Gargiulo, PGK (past grand knight) will continue in that capacity, Thomas Larsen, PGK, will remain financial secretary; Edward McDermott and Terry Piccone, will continue as inside guards; and John Creegan and Bayron Zabala, will retain their posts as out- K of C Council announces officers side guards. The three trustees are Richard Daul; Joseph Reap, PGK; and Stephen Adams, PGK. The Ramsey Knights would like to thank the local merchants who allowed the group’s members to collect for Exceptional Children in the spring and the generous residents who donated over $10,000. Every penny was sent to a local agency that works with mentally and physically challenged youngsters. The Ramsey K of C will participate in Ramsey Day on Sept. 10 and will hold its annual Golf Outing on Oct. 7. All money raised goes into the Charity Fund to be distributed to worthy causes. On June 13, 2011 at 1:24 p.m., Detective Brian Huth investigated a suspicious person on Route 17 North. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 20-year-old Montvale man was arrested for an active criminal warrant. The same date at 8:28 p.m., Patrolwoman Jaclyn Morris was dispatched to a Ramsey Square business for a shoplifter in custody. At the conclusion of the investigation a, 38-year-old Maywood man was arrested for shoplifting. On June 15, Detective Brad Smith was assigned to the Ramsey Municipal Court as court security. At 3:20 p.m., a 41-year-old Hillsdale man approached the detective and consented to a search of his belongings. At the conclusion of the search, the male was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. At 6:46 p.m. on June 16, Detective Brian Huth conducted a motor vehicle stop on Spring Street. At the conclusion of the stop, a 20-year-old Ramsey man was arrested for possession of marijuana. On June 17 at 7:55 p.m., a 21-year-old Ramsey man presented himself at the Ramsey Police Department to satisfy a traffic warrant. Patrolman Casey Hines processed the arrest. At 10:31 p.m. that day, Patrolman Mike Parise conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 17 North after observing a moving violation. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 20-year-old Mahwah man was arrested for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. A 19-year-old Mahwah man was arrested for possession of marijuana. The same day at 11:43 p.m., Patrolman Casey Hines was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business for a shoplifter in custody. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 53-year-old Ramsey woman was arrested for shoplifting. On June 18 at 8:22 a.m., Patrolman Anthony Fiore processed a warrant arrest at the Ramsey Police Department for a 23-year-old Ramsey man. Police investigate various incidents
