In addition to over 25 vendors who offer fresh produce and products, the market will feature several local crafters with pottery, hand-knitted items, jewelry, and more. Returning again this season is Peter Holmgren, who entertains visitors with his music. Children are invited to ‘Artisans Corner’ to open at Farmers Market this week stop by the children’s craft tent with Miss Lorraine. The Ramsey Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Street train station, rain or shine. A schedule of special events, children’s activities, and musical performances is available at www.ramseyfarmersmarket.org, where visitors may also sign up for a weekly e-mail about market specials. Visitors are encouraged to join the Pay it Forward program by dropping off non-perishable food items at a designated market table. The Ramsey Farmers Market is sponsored by the Ramsey Historical Association. Visitors to the market can discover the rich history of Ramsey’s farming past with purchase of the RHA’s publications “Images of America: Ramsey” by Ron Kase, and “Portraits of Ramsey” by Naoma Welk. The historic Ramsey Train Station built in the 1840s was the depot for local farmers who brought their produce for transport to Paterson and beyond. Ramsey Adult School’s Youth and Children’s Program is offering Summer Explorations, a two-week camp for children who will be entering grades six through eight. Developed to foster the concepts of learning and fun, Summer Explorations promotes and stimulates cooperative learning, individual creativity, and critical thinking skills. The focus of this summer’s camp is “Caught in the Act: Book Him!” The program will include crime scene symposiums, labs, and courtroom breakouts. Camp participants will visit the Ramsey Police Station to witness the booking process; the Bergen County Bureau of Criminal Investigation, where tours will be provided around the facility as actual CSI lab work takes place; and the Ramsey Courthouse. A mock trial will take place in the Ramsey Courthouse; family, friends, and press are invited to attend. Camp will run from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Smith School in Ramsey, July 18 through 29.
