To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest advancement rank in Scouting, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the area of leadership, community service, and outdoor skills. The Scout must advance through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life Scout and must pass specific tasks, which are organized by requirements and merit badges. Of the more than 150 merit badges available, 21 must be earned to qualify for Eagle Scout. Floyd began his Scouting career in 1999 as a Tiger Cub in Pack 934 in Pleasanton, California. In April of 2000, the family moved to Ramsey. While a member of Pack 175, he received the Parvuli Dei Medal from the Archdiocese of Newark and earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting. Floyd bridged to Boy Scouts in February 2004 and has been a very active member of Troop 31, serving in a number of leadership positions, including senior patrol leader.
