This month’s selection is “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly: A Memoir of Life in Death” by Jean-Dominique Bauby. When the 43-year old editor of French “Elle” suffers a stroke, leaving him paralyzed, Bauby found himself imprisoned in an inert body, able to communicate only by blinking his left eye. In a voice that is by turns wistful and mischievous, angry and sardonic, Bauby celebrates the liberating power of consciousness. This discussion group is sponsored by the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mahwah. For more information, contact Jennifer Edwards at paicc@yahoo.com or (201) 327-1276.
