Ramsey February 2, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 3 Late last month, Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney was sworn in as president of the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association. Gurney accepted an invitation to join the association in 2002, when he became chief in Ramsey. During Gurney sworn in as president of chiefs’ association his involvement with the group, Gurney and his fellow police chiefs have been working together to maintain and enhance professional standards in law enforcement. According to the organization’s mission statement, the group works to further closer official and personal relationships among police officials, and to elevate the standards of police institutions while striving to advance the prevention and detection of crime. The association includes multiple committees that are devoted to issues such as police training, education, communication, and other relevant issues. At present, the association is working to educate public officials regarding the issues of regionalization and shared police services, Gurney explained. “We want to make sure, before there is any consolidation, that every aspect has been explored,” Gurney said, pointing out that the goal is to maintain an appropriate level of service to area residents. The Ramsey Police Department conducts bicycle and pedestrian safety programs in the community and is very active in child safety seat inspections.
