BH-R Rotary Club hosts bomb squad commander
The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club recently hosted Lieutenant Dwane Razzetti, commander of the Bergen County Bomb Squad, at one of its regular weekly meetings. Lt. Razzetti gave members an introduction to the bomb squad and its work in the area. The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club has been supporting educational and charitable needs in Allendale, Mahwah, Ramsey, Saddle River, and Upper Saddle River since 1952. The club provides college scholarships for local students and funding for local causes such as the Center for Food Action. Members run the children’s rides at Ramsey Day and Mahwah Day, with proceeds going toward the club’s charitable activities. As part of Rotary International,
the club also raises funds to support educational, medical and sanitary facilities in Nicaragua and Haiti. Rotary International is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club holds its weekly meetings on Mondays at 12:15 p.m. at Houlihan’s in Ramsey. The Ramsey Seniors’ Sweetheart Luncheon will take place Feb. 14 at noon at the Adorno Fathers. This event is being hosted by Saint Paul’s Church, and reservations may be made by calling the parish center at (201) 327-0976. The cost of the luncheon is $8 and will be collected at the door. The event will feature beef vegetable soup, sandwiches, potato salad, dessert, and coffee. There will be music, dancing, prizes, and contests. The Macaroni Grill luncheon, originally set for Jan. 25, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 15. Refunds will be issued to those who are unable to attend. The seniors’ monthly committee meetings have been changed to the second Thursday of the month. Ramsey residents are invited to attend, and volunteers are

The meeting place is in Finch Park Senior Center at 4 p.m. The center is seeking a capable person to coordinate the games provided in the Wii interactive video system that was donated to the center. Anyone interested in a game of pool or ping pong may call Al at (201) 327-3989 to sign up. To join the shuffleboard group, which meets every Tuesday and Friday at 1 p.m., contact Dick at (201) 327-3089. All Ramsey seniors over the age of 60 are invited to attend.
