Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • December 14, 2011 Ramsey Each year, a child from Upper Austria fetches the Light of Peace from the grotto in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. The light is carried in two blast-proof miners’ lamps on an Austrian Airlines jet from Tel Aviv Israel to Vienna, Austria. From there, the Light of Peace is distributed across Europe and the United States. The Light of Peace recently arrived at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport. Many Boy Scouts of America Troop leaders and Light of Peace coordinators were on hand to receive the light. Their commitment is to spread the light as far across the United States as possible. This is the tenth year that the Peace Light has been brought to Light of Peace comes to borough from Bethlehem the United States and the 25th year the light has traveled across Europe. The goal of the program is to spread the Light of Peace like the branches of a huge tree rooted in Bethlehem across the world. The First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey gladly received this light as a sign of their willingness to be channels of peace, by their words and actions. Special thanks to Glen Rock Assistant Troop Leader John Hahn, for bringing the light to Ramsey. Those who would like to have the Light of Peace in their homes may bring a lantern to the church packed in a secure traveling case on Christmas Eve, and light their lanterns from the church’s Peace Light.
