Lacz, P.E. Scholarship, which will assist students with financial need who attend Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey. Don Bosco is a private, Catholic, college preparatory high school for young men. The school delivers rigorous academics and strongly encourages participation in extracurricular activities, clubs, and athletics. This new scholarship honors Lacz, a Don Bosco Prep alumnus from the Class of 1949. Lacz founded LAN Associates in 1965. In 2002, Don Bosco Prep inducted him into its Hall of Fame. The John A. Lacz, P.E. Scholarship recipient will be selected by Don Bosco Prep based on entrance exam results and middle school academic performance. The recipient must be well rounded and hard-working and active inside and outside the classroom. He must also have a strong sense of character, partake in community service, and have a consistently good academic record. “John is an active alumnus who will never say ‘no’ to offering any assistance he can to this institution,” said Don Bosco Alumni Director Rich Wisniewski. “LAN’s Don Bosco students to benefit from new scholarship generous gift -- funding scholarships for our students - reflects the company’s passion for youth and for building community as well as showing John’s love for the school.” “I certainly have a soft spot for Don Bosco,” Lacz added. “The time I spent there taught me not to be timid to take on new challenges and do new things. To this day, I still apply the valuable lessons I learned at Don Bosco in all that I do. Always study and work hard; it doesn’t cost any more and the results are outstanding,” he continued. “I am honored to have this scholarship named on my behalf. I feel a close relationship with Don Bosco because its faculty helped me to develop my character and initiatives from a young age. I still attend some of the school’s functions and have even hired Don Bosco students as part-time employees at LAN. I was more than happy to provide a good working experience for those individuals and they have all gone on to have very successful careers.” Scholarship applications must be submitted to the Don Bosco Business Office, along with a request for financial assistance and proper documentation.
