DiStefano William Plucinsky Jr. Letters to the Editor (continued from page 15) Proper drainage can be designed. The huge Ford factory once functioned on this property without floating away. If stores like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are located there, it won’t be necessary to go to Ridgewood or Paramus. If a movie theater were there, it would be much more convenient than going to Washington Township, Paramus, Ridgewood, or the Palisades Center. Parking at the Garden State Plaza and the Palisades Center is difficult. The Crossroads enterprise, which would contribute tax revenue, would lower Mahwah’s taxes. On the other hand, if residential units were built, could they cause tax increases by requiring more school construction? Surely, there are intelligent solutions to traffic problems. When Ford was there, we lived with the extra traffic of Ford’s many employees. Traffic delays to shop at the Nanuet Mall are a nuisance. Ridgewood is unfriendly for parking. How much traffic for the Crossroads would have been on the road anyway, heading for Nanuet or the Palisades Center? If done right, the Crossroads development would be good for Mahwah, and good for Rockland County residents. Hopefully, township officials will listen carefully to citizens’ concerns and resolve problems responsibly. Sidney J. Goodman Mahwah Jessica Lauren Dressler Brownie Lutz Gloria R. Premus Frederick E.
