The afternoon will include music by Don Hayek, and special contests. Hamburgers, hot dogs, salad, dessert, and beverages will be served. The cost is $5 per person. Checks may be made payable to the Ramsey Seniors. Sign up at borough hall, 33 North Central Avenue, during regular business hours. The seniors will travel to New York City to see Cirque du Soleil at Radio City on Friday, Sept. 2. The group will lunch at Pigalle Restaurant before the 2 p.m. show. The bus will leave the center at 10 a.m. Tickets are $100 per person; checks may be made payable to “Borough of Ramsey.” This trip is open to Ramsey seniors only. Sign up at borough hall. The arthritis exercise program will be available on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. and Fridays at 2:30 p.m. A new eight-week Tai Chi course will begin Sept. 9 at 12:50 p.m. in the senior center. Market includes activities, music The Ramsey Farmers’ Market will collect back-to-school supplies at the Pay it Forward table at the market through the month of August. The donated supplies, along with non-perishable food items, are delivered to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. Those who bring a donation will have the opportunity to win a colorful, monogrammed child’s backpack donated by a local business. On Aug. 28, the featured musician will be Matt Roy. The Ramsey Farmers Market is held every Sunday through Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Street train station. The market offers the freshest vegetables and produce, artisanal breads, glutenfree baked goods, organic coffees and teas, homemade pastas, honey, jams, cheeses, gourmet nuts, and more. Ramsey Farmers Market is sponsored by the Ramsey Historical Association. Visitors to the market can discover the rich history of Ramsey’s farming past with purchase of the RHA’s publications “Images of America: Ramsey” by Ron Kase, and “Portraits of Ramsey” by Naoma Welk. The historic Ramsey Train Station, which was built in the 1840s, was the depot for local farmers who brought their produce for transport to Paterson and beyond. Women’s support group offered The First Presbyterian Church at 15 Shuart Lane will host a women’s support group on Wednesdays through Aug. 31. All women are welcome to attend. The summer meetings will begin will a short walk around the block at 7 p.m. and will continue with a discussion at 7:30 p.m. Topics to be addressed will include job loss, health and weight concerns, or simply growing older. Registration opens for Annual Run The 34th Annual Jack McKeown Memorial Ramsey Run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Ramsey Municipal Pool on East Oak Street, Ramsey. The 10K will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 9:45 a.m. Trophies will be awarded for the first three finishers in several age categories. The fee to participate is $20 for pre-race registrants; $25 the day of the race. All prerace entries must be received by Thursday, Sept. 23. T-shirts will be given to the first 300 participants. A portion of this year’s registration fee will go to the Jack McKeown Scholarship Fund.
