August 10, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 17 Ramsey Review Farmers Market features Peach Fest The Ramsey Farmers Market, in coordination with the New Jersey Council of Peaches, will hold a Peach Festival on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Street train station. There will be peach tastings, children’s activities, free contests, music, and more. Several Ramsey restaurants, Bon Giovani, Baked in a Cup, Brady’s at the Station, Porto Alegre, Ramsey Country Club Lakeside Grill and Abbey will join in this celebration by offering a peach special on their menus. Vendors are encouraged to offer a peach-based specialty. The featured musician will be Ramsey resident Pete Holmgren, a blues guitarist and vocalist. Visitors are encouraged to join the Pay it Forward program by dropping off non-perishable food items at a designated market table. Along with donated produce and products from the vendors, all donations will go to the Center for Food Action. The Ramsey Famers Market is sponsored by the Ramsey Historical Association and the Borough of Ramsey. Visit every Sunday, rain or shine, through Nov. 20. Registration opens for Annual Run The 34th Annual Jack McKeown Memorial Ramsey Run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Ramsey Municipal Pool on East Oak Street, Ramsey. The 10K will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 9:45 a.m. Trophies will be awarded for the first three finishers in a variety of age categories. The fee to participate is $20 for pre-race registrants; $25 the day of the race. All pre-race entries must be received by Thursday, Sept. 23. T-shirts will be given to the first 300 participants. A portion of this year’s registration fee will go to the Jack McKeown Scholarship Fund. Special service held at Crestwood Park The Ramsey First Presbyterian Church will hold a joint worship service and Pot Luck Picnic with Allendale’s Highlands Presbyterian Church of Allendale on Sunday, Aug. 14 at Crestwood Lake Park, located on West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. Seniors announce events The Ramsey Seniors will travel to New York City to see Cirque DuSoleil at Radio City on Friday, Sept. 2. The group will lunch at Pigalle Restaurant before the 2 p.m. show. The bus will leave the center at 10 a.m. Tickets are $100 per person; checks may be made payable to “Borough of Ramsey.” This trip is open to Ramsey seniors only.
