Area April 27, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 7 Three Teaneck residents have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries committed at high-end residences in Bergen County and the surrounding areas. Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the arrests of Diandre Mikell, 24, Jason Mikell, 40, and Jerry Montgomery, 30 after a multi-week investigation. Following the burglaries, detectives from the Teaneck Police Department developed information suggesting that Mikell and others were largely responsible for the spree. As a result, a task force was formed by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office consisting of detectives from its Special Investigations Squad, under the direction of Chief Steven Cucciniello, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the Rockland County (NY) Intelligence Squad, and police departments from Teaneck, Englewood, Tenafly, Mahwah, and River Edge. On April 14 at approximately 8 p.m., task force detectives followed the three suspects into Somerset County. Diandre Mikell, Jason Mikell and Montgomery were then followed to a residential area on Stacey Lane in Basking Ridge, where they attempted to commit a residential burglary, but were confronted by the homeowner. The individuals fled, and were then followed to a residence located on Hodge Drive in Bridgewater. They cut the phone lines and dismantled the security alarm, then forced open the front door of the residence, which was unoccupied at the Three arrested in connection with burglary spree time of the burglary. They proceeded to ransack the residence before departing the home carrying with them proceeds including a large safe containing numerous pieces of jewelry and cash. In addition to the safe, they left the residence with a pillowcase full of jewelry and coins and departed the area. After Bridgewater Police Department confirmed that a burglary had occurred, task force members and members of the Bridgewater and Green Brook police departments conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 22 in Green Brook. All three individuals were placed under arrest and transported to Bridgewater Police Headquarters. Following the arrests, task force detectives executed a search warrant on the vehicle used during the burglary and all three aforementioned individuals. Within the vehicle,detectives located the safe and pillowcase containing the jewelry, coins, and cash. Detectives also located ski masks, gloves, walkie-talkies, burglary tools, and additional jewelry throughout the vehicle. The safe also contained personal documents belonging to the Hodge Drive homeowners. Jason Mikell was found to be in possession of several pieces of jewelry. The jewelry taken from the residence was estimated to be valued in excess of $75,000. The three men were each charged by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office with burglary, theft, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest in connection with the burglary in Bridgewater. Bail was set by the Honorable Judge Thomas Dilts, J.S.C. (Somerset County) at $75,000. All three individuals were remanded to the Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.
