April 20, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 5 Mahwah Voters to endorse incumbents, decide on tax levy by Frank J. McMahon On April 27, registered voters in the Township of Mahwah will have the opportunity to vote on the $52,861,361 tax levy required to fund the school district’s 201112 budget. The voters will also be asked to endorse Kenneth Angelo, Patricia Shada, and Peter Wendrychowicz, the three incumbent Mahwah Board of Education trustees who are seeking reelection unopposed. Angelo is seeking his fourth term on the board. Currently, he is chairman of the Transportation Committee and a member of the Facilities Committee and the Public Relations Committee. He had been the chairman of the Facilities Committee during the development and construction of the new high school athletic field. “I am very proud of the Mahwah Board of Education’s accomplishments over the past nine years,” Angelo stated. “We were able to make great strides. The task at hand is for the Mahwah school system to prepare the students for the 21st century. Current budgetary constraints will continue to make this a difficult task.” He noted that the board put forth a budget 17 percent below the governor’s two percent cap, with no cuts to curricula, programs, or athletics. “By being fiscally responsible, the students, town, and taxpayers all benefit,” he said. “I feel the board’s cohesiveness enables many improvements to be implemented quickly,” Angelo continued. “At the end of the day, the board of education has the ability to get past any disagreements, for the well-being of the Mahwah school system. We are also currently in the process of replacing the superintendant. This will be difficult job and all of the board will hopefully be able to find the right person to lead Mahwah as we prepare our students for the future. “I look forward to the challenges in front of us, and am very proud of the accomplish- they will come out and support us and the ments behind us.” Shada is seeking her fourth term on the budget we have presented on Wednesday, school board.
