Next week (Wednesday, April 27), Ramsey voters will be presented with the $46,954,695 tax levy associated with the school district’s proposed $54,194,441 budget for 2011-12. Voters will also be asked to select three members of the board of education from the field of four candidates. After receiving no state aid for 2010-11, the district will receive $474,070 from the state for 2011-12. However, district officials note that this figure will be offset by the increase in pension costs. The proposed budget is below the two percent tax levy increase limit set by the State of New Jersey, and reportedly includes

The proposed budget will allow the district to restore the middle school track program and the language clubs at Ramsey High School. Three incumbent trustees, Laura Behrmann, Anthony Gasparovich, and Keith Kaplan, will be challenged by newcomer James Meiman. Behrmann is completing her first term on the board. She serves as chair of the Community Action Committee and works closely with the PTOs. She has served on the Finance, Technology, Cafeteria, Student Activities, and Legislative committees during the course of her tenure. She
