Ramsey April 20, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 11 The Ramsey Environmental Commission, headed by Chairman Patrick Nerney, recently held its seventh annual borough-wide cleanup to coincide with activities recognizing Earth Day. The group deployed volunteers around Ramsey, particularly the Green Acres sites, to remove unwanted debris of all sizes and weights. Following tradition, the Ramsey Rescue Squad hosted the group at its headquarters on South Island Avenue. “After all of the Earth Day volunteers headed out, we sent our trucks out with crews to assist with removing garbage and vegetation,” Ramsey Rescue Squad President Michael Adams said. “Around noon, we dispatched our boat to Suraci’s Pond and Garrison Pond to remove items that were in the water. Weather wise, it was the best day we’ve had so far this spring.” Earth Day cleanup leaves borough sparkling Volunteers lent a hand in the borough’s spring cleanup. Outside is now open.
