‘Meet the Bunny’ The Township of Mahwah will hold its annual “Meet the Bunny” event at Continental Soldiers Park on Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m., rain or shine. Residents are asked to contribute non-perishable food items to benefit the Center for Food Action. Items needed are pasta sauces, canned tomato sauce, boxed flavored rice, cold cereal, macaroni and cheese, paper towels, and toilet paper. There will be a designed drop off site at the park. Parenting workshop offered Judy Belluardo will present “Parenting in a Technological Age” on Wednesday, April 13 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Young World Day School. Belluardo, a PCI certified parent coach, will cover how a child’s brain learns optimally, challenges parents face in a technological age, and strategies and suggestions for parents. Elks host Spring Fling The Mahwah Elks, 1 Foxwood Lane in Mahwah, will host a Spring Fling on Saturday, May 14 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. The event will feature live classic rock and oldies by The Odell Brothers Rhythm & Blues Review and a buffet style dinner with beer, wine, and soda. The cost is $25 per person in advance and $30 at the door. Space is limited. All proceeds will go to benefit the Elks’ Special Children’s and Elks Veterans’ programs. Multi-Chamber Wine Tasting event set The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the North Jersey Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce for an evening of wine tasting and business networking. The event will be held April 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Gary’s Wine & Marketplace, 1308 Route 23 North in Wayne. Advance registration is required. April history lecture to highlight Mount Laurel decision The Mahwah Museum will present its April History Lecture “Mahwah and Mount Laurel: The Growth of Housing in Mahwah 1900-2000” on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramapo Reformed Church Education Building, 100 Island Road in Mahwah. In 1983, the Supreme Court of New Jersey rendered the controversial Mount Laurel decision about municipal requirements for affordable housing. Mahwah was one of the defendants in that case. The decision and its aftermath caused Mahwah to grow from a suburban community to the “Edge City” it is today. Tom Dunn, the chronicler of Cragmere and a long-time resident of Mahwah, will present the history of housing development in the township using sources from the archives of the museum. Admission is $3 per person; free for Mahwah Museum members. Refreshments will be served.
