April 13, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 11 Ramsey Review Club sets Heirloom Tomato Sale The Woman’s Club of Ramsey will sponsor its Eighth Annual Heirloom Tomato Transplant Sale on May 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Masonic Lodge at the corner of Lake Street and Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey. A large variety of heirloom tomato plants will be offered along with a selection of pepper, eggplant, squash, cucumber, and herb plants. This annual sale helps the Woman’s Club of Ramsey raise funds for their charitable work. ‘Serious Whimsy’ on exhibit The Fieldstone Gallery, located at 147 East Main Street in Ramsey, invites the public to view its sculpture exhibit, “Serious Whimsy.” A special “Meet the Artists Night” event will be held April 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The exhibit will remain on view through June 16. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. For details, call (201) 9623636. ‘Strike out Hunger’ announced Saint John’s Memorial Episcopal Church, located at the corner of Franklin Turnpike and Main Street in Ramsey, and the Ramsey Baseball/Softball Association have joined forces to “Strike out Hunger” on the league’s opening day: Saturday, April 16. League participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to the collection sites located in the Main Street train station (at the start of the parade), and to the Finch Park and McFarren snack stands from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations will be brought to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. Recommended donations include pasta, pasta sauce, boxed macaroni and cheese, soups, baked beans, canned fruit, boxed potatoes, pancake mix, syrup, coffee, jelly, 100 percent fruit juice (bottled or boxed), cereal, healthy individual snack items for lunchboxes, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. Scouts seek new members Ramsey Cub Scout Pack #175 invites boys in kindergarten through fourth grade from Hubbard, Saint Paul’s and Dater schools, to visit the Spring Round-up Carnival on Thursday, April 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. The carnival will be held in the Saint Paul’s School cafeteria. Parade plans announced The Ramsey Baseball and Softball Association will begin the recreational baseball and softball season with the annual parade on April 16. The parade route will be along Main Street to Finch Park, where opening day ceremonies will be held. The parade will step off at 9 a.m. from the corner of Mechanic and Main streets. Exhibit commemorates Armenian Massacre The First Presbyterian Church in Ramsey will present an art exhibit to commemorate the 95th Anniversary of the Armenian Massacre. The exhibit will be open on Wednesday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Greg Keosaian, stated clerk of the Presbytery of the Palisades, will lead a presentation and discussion of the events of the Armenian Holocaust. Armenian artist and Presbyterian elder, Lucy Janjigian, will display several paintings from her collection, “Uprooted,” which depicts events of the Armenian Holocaust. DVDs of a narrated exhibit of the “Uprooted” collection will be available for sale. Refreshments will be provided. First Presbyterian Church is located at 15 Shuart Lane. National Library Week marked During National Library Week, Bergen County Cooperative Library System President Terrie McColl will visit all 75 member libraries, and her visits will be blogged, filmed, and photographed. Mc Coll will visit the Ramsey Library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue on April 13. Members of the community are invited to stop by the Ramsey Free Public Library to borrow a book, movie or music CD, to attend a program, or to search a database or the internet and become part of the story.
