The series includes a light supper, served at 6 p.m., followed by the DVD presentation, dessert, and discussion. There is no charge for the series. The program topics will cover: “Why does Jesus Matter?” “Why is the Resurrection Important for Us?” and “Who Is the Holy Spirit?” Sessions will be in the parish hall of the church at 70 Sheridan Avenue. Flu and pneumonia vaccines available The Valley Hospital Department of Community Health along with the Ridgewood and Ho-Ho-Kus boards of health will be offering flu and pneumonia vaccines on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ridgewood Library, 125 North Maple Avenue. Registration is required; call (201) 291-6090. Flu and pneumonia vaccines are covered by traditional Medicare Part B. Recipients must present their card at the time of service. Anyone who has a HMO may choose to go to his or her primary care provider or pay $27 for a flu vaccination. Pneumonia vaccines will be available for those who have never had a previous pneumonia vaccination. The cost is $35. Flu shots are encouraged for those age 65 and over, those with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and children (especially those between six months and five years of age. New Story Time hours announced The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library in Ho-Ho-Kus has announced new hours for its Story Time. The program will meet on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11:45 a.m. and will run through December. Sign up is not necessary. Vendors sought for Holiday Bazaar Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church is seeking vendors for its Holiday Bazaar to be held on Nov. 12. Space booked by Oct. 15 will cost $60 for an upstairs table or $50 for a downstairs location. Table locations are assigned on a “first come” basis. After Oct. 15, the cost for an upstairs location will be $75 and $60 for a downstairs location. The bazaar will feature gifts for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, including handmade crafts, baked goods, preserves and jellies, books, a café, and musical entertainment. Roundtable meetings resume The Hermitage Roundtable will open its 2011-12 season on Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at The Hermitage, 335 North Franklin Turn- pike, in Ho-Ho-Kus. The meeting will include a guided tour of the current Hermitage exhibit with Master Photographer Jeffrey Steccato, the 2010 National Award Recipient and owner of Haviland Photography in Ho-Ho-Kus. The exhibition features more than three dozen original works by Steccato that range from contemporary photographs that appear more like hand-painted oils on canvas, including images of The Hermitage, to ghost towns from the Old West and American barns. A special section of the exhibition showcases “Ho-Ho-Kus: Then and Now,” in which Steccato presents a dozen historical views of the community alongside photographs taken from the same vantage point today. The Oct. 26 meeting will feature a lecture and book signing with Don Smith on “The Goffle Road Murders of Passaic County: The 1850 Van Winkle Killings.” Seniors plan events The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors will host a series of events, beginning with a visit on Sept. 21 to Adam Todd’s Restaurant in Andover where they will see “The Legend of Lanza.” Carol Greene, president of the Friends of the Hermitage, will present “Franklin Turnpike: 300 Years of Local and Through Traffic” on Sept. 27. Greene will draw from her award-winning book “The Ramapough Chronicles: A 300 Year History of Mahwah and its Surrounds.” On Oct. 11, Nancy Atkins Peck will present “Carl Kemm Loven: Designer of Dreams.” Loven was a well-known archi- tect who designed homes in Glen Rock, Ridgewood, and Ho-Ho-Kus; local shopping centers; and planned communities such as Sterling Forest. On Oct. 25, the group will take a trip to Villa Roma in Callicoon, New York for Oktoberfest. Meetings of the Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors take place the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Hermitage Education Building. Wine tasting dinner ushers in fall events The Ho-Ho-Kus Inn and Tavern will host the first of several special dinners on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. The event will feature M. Chapoutier wines paired with a four-course dinner by Executive Chef Bryan Gregg. Considered by many to be the premier winemaker in France, M. Chapoutier’s legendary techniques and history will be discussed by the inn’s wine director, Robert Lipkin. The dinner, priced at $79 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, is for all wine and gourmet food lovers. The inn, located at One East Franklin Turnpike, is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until 2 a.m. on weekends.
