The community is gearing up for the eighth annual Waldwick Chamber of Commerce’s Waldwick Day, which will be held at Borough Park on Sept. 24. Each year, this event generates a great deal of excitement among local residents, and many area businesses lend their support. This year, TD Bank, located at 63 West Allendale Avenue in Allendale, has stepped forward, becoming

Waldwick Day’s Platinum-level Sponsor. “At TD Bank, America’s most convenient bank, we’re committed to building the better bank,” said TD Bank Vice President and Allendale Store Manager Joseph Chinnici. “Our dedication goes beyond unparalleled, legendary services, and hassle-free banking. We’re equally passionate about supporting the community where our customers and employees live and work.” Chinnici became store manager in Allendale in 2010, and has since joined the Allendale Chamber of Commerce and the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce. TD Bank became a sponsor of the 2011 Waldwick 5K, and staff members from the bank donated their time to that event this spring. When the chance to sponsor Waldwick Day arose, TD Bank again jumped at the opportunity. “It’s a chance to show our commitment to the community,” Chinnici explained. In addition to the monetary contribution, TD Bank representatives, including Chinnici and staff from the bank’s local stores, will be present at Waldwick Day, and will provide giveaways to those who visit the bank’s table. Chinnici said he is currently trying to arrange a special visit from the TD Bank mascot. “We’re so happy to have them as our Waldwick Day sponsor,” Waldwick Chamber of Commerce President Christine Figliuolo said of TD Bank. “They’re very active within the Chamber, and Joe Chinnici is a very
active member and personally does a lot.” Figliuolo pointed out that this year’s event will last from noon to 5 p.m. – one hour longer than in the past. “The extended day will accommodate all of the fun, so people don’t have to miss events as they did in previous years,” Figliuolo added. A wide range of activities and entertainment will be featured this year, including live music and performances, the Waldwick Lions Club’s Ducky Derby, two pie-eating contests sponsored by ServPro of NW Bergen, and the first-ever Waldwick Day Dog Contest, which is being spearheaded by Blue Ribbon Grooming. A portion of the proceeds from the dog contest will benefit Companion Animal Advocates. Please note: A detailed schedule of Waldwick Day events will be published in an upcoming edition of Villadom TIMES. To provide an added dimension to this extremely popular event, outside crafters have been invited to set up booths at Waldwick Day this year. Vendors will be selling everything from jewelry, well-known brands of kitchen items and makeup, and hand painted silk scarves, tutus, and much more. Chamber members who wish to become sponsors and prospective vendors are encouraged to call Kim Post at (201) 693-6734 or (201) 693-6734.
